WHCB: “Is the PHR Going Global?”

“The globalization of health care is a theme I’ve brought up from time to time. So it’s no surprise that the globalization of personal health records (PHR) is receiving some attention. Prominent national health policy figure, Dr. David Nash, of Jefferson Medical College writes that he’s helping InterComponent Ware (ICW), a German e-health company, develop a global strategy for their PHR, “LifeSensor”. “The goal of our work” says Nash in the College’s Newsletter, “is not only to help ICW to break into the domestic US market, but rather to expand their world view, suggest a research agenda, and network internationally.”

Alfred, for the past 5 years any chance I had to interact with Medical personel the query to them “Are your medical records digitized?” they may have replied “Yes, our office used computers” .. then a counter by myself… “What about your personal records, or your children. Do you have access to them at home?”

5 years ago that dialog ended in blank stare when I mentioned the phrase PHR. During past 12-24 months the term is breaking into various households. I suspect it will be mainstream in another 12-18 months during family gathering in various demographics of Stateside families.

To further underscore my faith in the PHR / EMR integration and simplification, business partners and myself founded a startup company and over the past 2 years have deployed a FREE online PHR. Visit http://www.WorldMedCard.com and let me know your thoughts.

    Cheers!
