From a Health Data Management report comes this interesting insight:
“The perceived risk of infections from using mobile computing devices is a barrier that must be overcome before more doctors will use the hardware.”
Apparently in a small study from Spyglass Consulting based on interviews with about 100 physicians, 65 percent of respondents said they are concerned about the risk of infection from using mobile computing devices at the point of care.
“Spyglass Consulting Group study cites poor clinician hand washing habits, physician multi-tasking at bedside and ignorance as opportunities for spreading infection through mobile devices at point of care.”
I’d throw in a witty comment here, but the story sort of speaks for itself.
